The Rock School in Snap Brampton Business Profile
Business Profile: The Rock School by Rob Lorusso
Being a rock star is one of those dreams that never seems to die with age. When asking kids what they want to be when they grow up, inevitably some will fire out answers like ,”lawyer” or”astronaut”, but those are usually fleeting fantasies that fizzle with age. Many who say they want to be rock stars however, usually jump right into their musical journeys and continue to rock out well into adulthood. Here in Brarnpton, there is one place in particular that points kids in the right direction of their dreams as soon as they walk through the doors. The Rock School, a labour of love for Toni and Andrea Gavrilovic, has a singular purpose-to fuel and inspire passionate musicians with education, care, and, most importantly, with results.
Toni Gavrilovic has been a musician for 24 years, and has taught for 15 of them. According to his partner in life and in business Andrea, the genesis of the business came when, “Toni was looking for a music school to teach in (after moving to Brampton 9 years ago) but did not find one he felt had the same vision and passion for music as he did.” Thus, husband and wife set out to plan and execute a way for Toni to share his love of music with people here in this city. Whereas many facilities venture of into theatre, and acting even, with their extracurricular teachings, what separates The Rock School is their approach. “Unlike some schools, The Rock School is always focused and only focused on music, not anything else unrelated to music,” says Andrea.
The Rock School’s students also are able to put what they learn into action in a variety of ways. Their students have been featured in numerous concerts, seen here in SNAP Brampton in a handful of our past issues, as concerts in the Rose Theatre’s Garden Square and even the Chapters location at Hwy 10 and Bovaird, have hosted great live shows. Andrea adds, “we also offer recording and other special projects in music to keep the students inspired.” It’s no surprise then that many parents often comment to Andrea and Toni that one of the main reasons that they enjoy having their children learn from Toni and the other teachers at The Rock School, is that there are tangible examples of their children flourishing within their system.
Dreaming big is not only encouraged at The Rock School, it’s put into practice each and every visit. The Rock School is open Mondays to Fridays 3:30pm to 9:00pm and Saturdays 1O:00am to 5:00pm. With lessons in Guitar, Voice, Piano, Drums and Violin, your child will receive hands-on instruction in a nurturing environment. Regardless of what step of the musical
journey your child is on, trust Toni and Andrea to help keep their dreams of rock greatness alive. While they aren’t ensured rock star status, at the very least, your child’s passion for music will be allowed to blossom with like-minded individuals. Which, in the end, sure beats worrying about what they’ll be when they grow up.
